Recently the Yackandandah Equine Parelli club, YEP club for short, gate crashed a fabulous idea. Fiona and Sonya had planned a quiet weekend away with their horses at the wonderful Banyandah naturally. An amazing horse property set amongst the mighty Murray River red gums, complete with obstacles, honeycomb and sand arenas. The more the merrier certainly rang true.
Some highlights over the weekend were; Jodie Heald 2* Parelli Professional flat out giving lessons all day Saturday, Tania and Jess squeezed in a Parelli kids lesson, and Kerryn and Anne experienced the wonders of Banyandah for the first time.
Horses Sunny and Molly-Moo had their first ride in the Field of Dreams, Chrome had a RB liberty session on his own with his 22ft lead flying along behind him, and Billy, Meg, Chrome and Accolade had a river flats mud bath and facial, followed by sand rolls and a much needed hose down!
We watched the exuberant Romeo and his flying changes, the calm Armani going around the Honeycomb and through the carwash and Rhonda and her horse maintaining gait at the canter while throwing in a bit of a buck. Megan proudly showed off the new equine man in her life and Jane Reid, who owns the property, took up the mantle of Fiona’s “Can you Challenge” with some HQ and FQ yields on Bird with her arms folded. Needless to say, Billy and I are still practising! We even had some Parelli friends come and visit without their horses. The red and white bubbles were flowing freely on Saturday night, as the horse stories grew longer and more elaborate. Thank you to everyone who came along and stay tuned for the next YEPclub Play Day, this Saturday 10th September at the Oxley Reserve with Kaye Thomas and Jodie Heald. It could end up being a “wow with cows”, where the more the merrier will certainly ring true!
